About us

This is what we do.

The Institute of Signals, Sensors and Systems has launched a Society for PhDs and Postdocs (IS3 society– say it like “Ice cubed”) to promote social events, inter-group collaboration and to provide a point of contact for both PhDs and Postdocs. The well attended official launch took place on the 29th of October. There was free Pizza and snacks for lunch and the head of the department, Professor Evan Petillot, welcomed everyone and stressed that the aim of the society is to encourage people to play an active role and to enhance networking within the school. The launch was followed by a festive event in December before the holidays. The party took place in the chaplaincy with a Christmas cookie competition, mulled wine and mince pies. Passionate table tennis and table football matches were played and the PowerPoint karaoke produced some good laughs. Future events will involve sport competitions, charity events, BBQs etc.
